Simon and Tybee

Did we mention that both of these precious Doxies are the sweetest boys you've ever met?

Two GHS rescued Dachshunds are in need of medical care. Simon and Tybee are two sweet little doxie's that we rescued from a high kill shelter to prevent them from being euthanized.

Simon has a rare hernia that is believed to be genetic (poor breeding) and requires a very expensive surgery to repair. He landed in a high kill shelter in south Georgia. Simon was not neutered and had no identification. He sat patiently waiting for his people to come back but no one came for Simon.

One of our dedicated volunteers discovered him and rescued him before it was too late. We didn't immediately notice the hernia but when he was examined by our vet it was diagnosed. We were referred to a specialist and now have a treatment plan. Please help us give Simon the life that he deserves!

Tybee! What a story this brave little guy can tell when you listen closely!! He was discovered in a high kill shelter the same day he arrived. Tybee can not use his back legs and is covered in urine burns. It was clear that he was in serious trouble and needed to get out of animal control as soon as possible. We arrived at the shelter the next day to get him out and to a vet as quickly as possible.

We weren't successful at our initial attempt but were told he was being taken to a vet. Several hours later animal control called us and said he could be released because of his injury. We immediately went to get him thinking even if we couldn't help him have a new life, we wouldn't let him die at animal control.

We took Tybee to our vet and she gave us hope that he could live with his injury provided we could find a family who will be dedicated to his care. We were elated by the prospect that we could save him from certain death! Now, before we can start the process of finding him a furever home we need to take care of his medical needs. Please help Tybee get some wheels and have a happy life!
